Political fic chronicling a young man's struggle to better the life of his people... while at the same time getting shit on by his people, who consider him a sell-out.

I'm sure the story's already been officially written (the creators loved coming up with backstories that rendered most "backstory" fic impossible... as is their right), but that one was on my mind quite a bit back in the day.
