I think increases in concert price are more a result of just basic supply-demand mismatch, rather than increases in wages for the concert workers? That probably plays a role but I think it's primarily just a consequence of the fact that the number of people who want to see concerns by popular acts far outstrips the number of people who can physically be fit into a venue.

Okay, I know very little about this; I've been to like three concerts in my life and they were all fairly small. But isn't this mainly a Ticketmaster's Monopolistic Shady-AF Business Model problem? Secondarily a supply and demand problem. And only peripherally down to people actually getting fair wages to make the concerts happen?

I figure it’s easier just to make a single comment instead of answering the same thing to everyone.

Yes Ticketmaster sucks and has a lot of bullshit fees, and Ticketmaster buying tickets from themselves and reselling higher under another name is a huge problem. But the initial jump from tens to hundreds per ticket was driven by unionization. Roadies and security actually get paid now AND they have insurance. They were lucky to get minimum wage; the travel roadies did was often considered most of their pay. Security was whatever guys they could find at a local bar or gym who were willing to stand in front of the stage for free. Paying people a fair wage to work majorly cut into Ticketmaster’s profits and that created the present day problems we face now.

As for supply and demand: sold out concerts are rare now. Very rare. Especially if you don’t count the tickets that Ticketmaster bought from themselves and failed to resell. But 30 years ago it was practically guaranteed any touring band would sell out every single show.

Until recently, I wasn't at all able to afford concert tickets because they have always been expensive. I understand they're way pricier now but it shocks me how most people talk about going to concerts as if it's something most people were able to afford until price hikes in the past 4-5 years

I really look forward to the days when people realize there is a fundamental difference between gender presentation and gender identity.

Plenty of people who experiment or play with gender presentation are perfectly comfortable and content in their existing gender identity, and the sooner certain corners of the LGBTQ+ community remember that and stop trying to push one into the other, the better for everyone.

I think that's the difference between doing it as a stylistic choice and doing it because of gender identity. I read a biography about David Bowie's early days (can't remember which one) that mentioned the whole Ziggy Stardust era and how his band wasn't that enthusiastic about the make up and tight clothes thing, citing that they were working class lads from a background that didn't look kindly on dressing "glam". And then they figured out that ladies loved it and BAM suddenly fighting over the mascara before showtime.
