I’ve never worked in the industry. My brother was a roadie from 86 until 14, and is my primary source of information. I’m also not blaming unions, though I can see how it comes off that way. There are a lot of factors in why tickets for big names start at $500 today; this isn’t about that. But the pay for event staff was the source of the initial price increase starting around 2002.

I meant to say my brother was often tasked with recruiting security. He said convenience stores were another of their major targets because it was where all the outcasts and druggies hung out, they could usually be bought for a joint.
