What side characters you like better, find more interesting, than the main characters?

By the end of Justified, I liked Tim and Rachel more than Raylan (and Boyd).

There are a lot of characters that I consider MORE than a side character so not sure if they really count (John Watson, Bakugo, Sanji, Stiles).

Bones was my favorite character in the Star Trek movies. But again, he isn't really a side character.

Brienne was by far my favorite Game of Thrones character. Love her so much. In the same vein, Donna is my favorite Doctor Who character.

I don't think Donna counts as a side character, or I'd say her too. She, Bill, River, Amy, and the Master are my top favorite Who characters.

All the Strawhats are main characters, so I don't think you can really count Sanji on his own.

A side character would be more like Zeff of Coby, I'd say.

In the same vein, I wouldn't think John Watson counts in most adaptions, as he tends to be a main character as well.

I can't think of any for my current fandoms. But when I was in Harry Potter, Neville, McGonagall, Tonks, Bellatrix, Lucius, Narcissa, and Sirius were all way more interesting than the main characters.

Bellatrix was a better villain than Voldie, in my opinion.

Obi, from Snow White with the Red Hair. He had a gritty backstory, redemption story (sort of), with a temperament that was mischievous and go-with-the-flow while being perfectly capable of being serious when necessary... he seemed like a more "complete" character than the mains because he didn't seem as dependent on the Shirayuki story for his development.

And he actually had chemistry with Shirayuki, unlike Zen.

It's been a while since I gave any attention to media where the mains aren't the ones I like since there's So Much out there now, but I got to the point with Highlander that I only cared about episodes with Methos in them. Much more fascinating than MacLeod.

Seconding Methos and adding Joe to that mix as well. Their episodes (separately or together) were miles above what Duncan was doing.

A whole bunch of characters in Bleach are way more interesting than Ichigo.

Just about every side character in all of MXTX's novels are more interesting to me than her main characters. But I especially love Nie Huaisang in MDZS, Mu Qing (and Feng Xin) in TGCF and Liu Qingge and Zhuzhi-Lang in Scum Villain.

My two favorite characters in Boardwalk Empire were Richard Harrow and Eddie.

Nesta and Lucien (not together) in the ACOTAR series

Oh, man, Methos was so much more interesting than Duncan, the Highlander.

Most of the characters in Smallville were more interesting than Clark, IMO.

Oh! And most of the characters in The 100 were more interesting than Clarke, IMO.

What is it about main characters named Clark/e?

Pretty much every character that wasn't a puppet was more interesting than Hercules in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys.

...Though, to be fair, most of the side characters in the actual Greek mythology were more interesting than Heracles.
