Jude Law no good, then? I thought he looked very dapper in the Sherlock Holmes movies.

Came here to say this. RDJ is good-looking too, although I don't find his interpretation of Holmes hot.

My thoughts exactly.

I was going to say that Jude Law/RDJ are two of the most shippable Sherlock and Watson, and not just on looks alone! (Of course, this is because they actually played it as a romance)

I don't know if I'm alone in my purism, but I was never able to see the character RDJ plays as Sherlock Holmes. On paper he has many of book Holmes' qualities, but in practice they’re nothing alike. That would disqualify those movies from Holmes/Watson shipping for me.

But then I do not share OP's problem. I'm perfectly happy with either of the Granada Watsons.

I don’t know if it’s the writing, the acting, the direction or some combination of the three, but RDJ never lets you forget for a moment that he’s RDJ playing Sherlock Holmes in that movie. And I’ve seen enough of his movies to know that he isn’t always like that, so I’m thinking it had to be a deliberate choice on someone’s part.

Was gonna say, did anon just totally miss those Sherlock Holmes movies?

Nah, below they respond to someone else who included Jude Law in a list with, "not hot."

I know taste is subjective, but given the literal laundry list of Watsons; and the fact that anon thinks not a single one of them is attractive, I think their bar for "hot" might be a wee bit high.

Forever sad there wasn't a third movie cause they were sooooo shippable.

MTE! Some people in the Ritchie Holmes fandom even jokingly referred to Jude Law's John as Hotson. That version of Holmes and Watson were so charismatic and shippable.

I wasn't all that interested in Elementary ever, but Lucy Liu's Watson was also pretty hot.
