Okay, are we reading/watching the same canon? Lmao. She really doesn't. XD That's an integral part of her personality - her fixation with her kitty sensei and the resulting drama and wangst it causes (I'm not referring to the possibility of her being in love with Yoruichi, by the way - I'll leave the shipping wank to someone else). She wasn't designed to be a three dimensional character, as I'm sure the mangaka himself would even tell you. Every Bleach character has a niche they fill, and only a lucky few are developed beyond that.

Yeah, Soi is a captain and a bitchninja and does a few things OTHER than obsess over Yoruichi, but you could count those things on one hand. Sometimes characters aren't exactly designed to be realistic and "whole", you know? If Soi were, she'd be one of the main characters.

I agree with your dislike of that particular artist's portrayal of Soi, though. Soi is definitely not a weak character. That... is like turning Byakuya into a simpering tearful uke. DO NOT WANT.

We are reading/watching the same canon, and she does have a life outside of Yoruichi. She takes her job very seriously, and this could be because of her brothers' deaths in the line of duty. She has a fixation on Yoruichi, but that doesn't mean that's the only person or thing she ever thinks about, and it doesn't mean she'd be keen on Yoruichi constantly seeing her as so weak if chances are she can't get the kitty to settle down and come home with her.

I understand where you're coming from; her character was primarily designed to be a portion of Yoruichi's backstory, rather than one on a whole, so she does revolve around her a lot. Her personality and life, however, do not revolve around the woman. Loving someone (however way which soi fong loves her) does not mean they are your life, especially when you haven't seen them for long. She's obsessed and fixated, but is also bitter. She didn't show weakness until she was already worn out, but I suppose one moment of crying can make you look like a wimpering uke to everyone :|
