The fandoms where it's happened more than once are the fandoms I said goodbye to. Thankfully it's never been one of my super obsessive fandoms.

It happens a ton in certain fandoms. I gave up on reading Trigun fic because there was so much untagged trans (or just having a vagina because plant) Vash fic.

And of course it was always Vash who had one. Never Knives or Wolfwood. And totally not because of tired stereotypes.

I'd seen so much TriStamp trans!Vash before I even watched the show that I expected a way more obvious symbolism with the "gate" than what actually ended up happening. The plants were, uh, very obviously biologically assigned in that scene, and both Vash and Knives weren't. Like, I could see where that interpretation could come in, but...I was expecting more from the sheer fandom reaction.

More likely it's what you said--the same old seme-ass stereotyping.

Honestly, I think it'd be interesting if the one character that the fandom majority headcanons as trans was a typical burly, macho guy. There are transguys like that IRL. That's not even my thing, but it'd be a nice way to change things up.

Part the reason why I never got into the new Trigun or near its fandom because the fans kept putting untagged smut with Vash's oozing vagina on my tl. One would think at least in art it would get tagged since it's a complete change of genital but nobody ever did it. It was easier to avoid the fandom altogether.

Fics like this are the reason why I mostly filter out the Trigun Stampede tag and only read fics filed under the original Trigun tag on AO3. I have nothing against headcanoning Vash as trans because its a complete nonissue at the end of the day, but the insistence on everyone treating him like a perpetual uwu sad softboy and extending it to his gender identity is so frustrating that I avoid Tristamp content like the plague.

I demand equality. If we’re gonna have secret after secret complaining about men with vaginas, I want at least ONE secret complaining about women with dicks.

(Not making that secret myself, because honestly, I don’t have a problem with it.)

Dumb comment. It doesn't happen nearly as often in western fanfic. Futa doujinshi? Sure. But it's very rare in fanfic and especially rarely untagged. So it's not even remotely comparable.

Funny you say that, I considered sending one in because a lot of my F/F ships are hit with that. Untagged, even.

I saw a lot of that (complaints about it, I do still see fic) a few years back. Ranging from "it's fetishizing" to just disliking it.

Huh, that is honestly not something I have ever run into. I might be into that. But agree it should be tagged!

It's almost always tagged, though, so I don't have a problem with it. I also don't have a problem with men with vaginas if the fic is tagged. I like reading those fics, when I know what I'm reading!

Sadly (?) never seen one untagged surprise!dick fic. Probably in the wrong fandoms for that

Aah, this happened to a character in my fandom too, I thought it wouldn't bother me much, but now I don't want to read any fic with him because it's never tagged and an 80% chance of going that way.

I was really happy that the character in my fandom got popular, but due to his looks the fanon headcanon was immediately slapped on him and I cannot read anything above T-rated fics.

People do this with Lucifer in Hazbin because of Viv saying he carried Charlie but tbh I ....don't really mind.

It wouldn't even be a problem if the people who do this did not act like Jehovah's Witnesses, eager to show you the proper way of enjoying BL and how with the proper amount of exposure, you too will see that this new way of depicting characters is actually very sexy. As if it worked that way.

The amount of times I had to explain a mutual how body dysmorphia works and why I don't want to see or interact with that kind of fiction is honestly baffling. Of course, they still act like just having more exposure will solve my problem.

No, it won't. But they sure do sound like the boomers who still believed you can pray the gay away and ace people just need to find the right person.

OMG yes. The number of times I've been called transphobic for not wanting to get triggered by untagged transman vagina is insane. Maybe stop trying to win internet woke brownie points and think about real people for a change!? It's gotten to the point where I'm starting to think these people just want to write straight fic but get the attention of slash fic. Everyone says they're all written by trans people and I have heavy doubts simply from the way these people act. They're not even allies.

It's also frustrating that people refuse to acknowledge that... Some people aren't into certain bits? Or we get called names for saying it (in my experience)? Like, I don't mind guys with pussies or chicks with dicks IRL, I don't care what's in my friend's pants, but this is about sexual compatibility and sexual preferences with porn. Not everyone is attracted to every gender+sex configuration and it gets kinda similar to conversion therapy to assert people should be.

This happens to Kabru from Dungeon Meshi a lot... I think it comes from people being disappointed he wasn't the butch woman they thought he was after seeing gifs but it's so so so annoying and reeks of "I can't write/enjoy smut unless it includes the parts I have so just deal with it" and then they don't tag it.

there's SO MUCH in K-Pop that I seriously just. want to throw shit at a wall. it's bad enough for fantasy, but in RPF?! Fucking nasty.
