(Anonymous) 2024-07-09 07:12 am (UTC)(link)But it still means that an author can accept their work being added to what seems like a sincere recs collection with nothing odd about the settings, and then the creator of that collection can later set all items in the collection to unrevealed. In any case, the author can simply remove their work from the collection again in order to reveal it (that hasn't changed), and can now block the user who did that. But the fact that ALL collections have this unreveal (and also: anonymize) functionality means that authors are unlikely to accept their work being added to some rando's faves collection.
Also, because of the switch to requiring that ALL collection add requests have to be accepted by the author, if an author has abandoned their AO3 account, you can no longer add their works to collections at all, which makes collections as a way to do rec lists no longer really viable...
