I think most fic writers aren't really looking to be rated 1-5 stars on something they do for a hobby. Recs and book clubs are one thing, goodreads is a whole different thing.

As long as it's posted to a place that is understood to be for this kind of honest discussion and review, I dont think it really matters if it's what fic writers are looking for. It's not for them.

I wouldnt give unsolicited concrit in an author's comment section. I wouldnt even say anything less that positive about someone's fanfic on my own blog, or any other random places where people who aren't looking for it, including the author, can see it by accident. But as a writer, I also wouldn't go to a place that I knew was all about honest review and discussion of fanfic, search for my own fics, and then be mad about it when I found what I was looking for.

Oh yeah, same. I wouldn't either. But I also wouldn't be surprised if less people shared their fic publicly.

DA - exactly. This seems like a great attitude if your goal is getting less fic.
