Which color pack?

(Anonymous) 2024-07-10 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
This is really dumb but I can't decide what color pack I want to get. A more boring but kind of blend in black, or a fun blue? Neither are really calling to me but I like the pack in general, so help me make a choice.

FWIW I'd go for fun blue all the way!

I like the Shadow Bay. That Oak Brown is kind of an unfortunate color, definitely don't get that.

It depends on your usage. For a trail pack, blue! It’s fun, goes nicely with the overall hiker wardrobe colors, and isn’t a natural color so you’re more visible if you’re lost or hiking during hunting season. Also, it’s less likely to attract ticks than black.

But the black is better for civilization. It blends in, it won’t show marks from the luggage carousel or the belt at security or train gunk or whatever. It won’t clash with any of your clothing. And it’s easily blinged up with luggage tags, badges, or patches if you want to make more distinctive from all the other black bags everyone else is carrying.

Agreed with all of this. I have a blue duffel bag and while I love it, it gets marks all over it all the time just from normal use and so it definitely looks kind of dingy now. I bought it because I wanted to be able to ID my bag easily but if I could go back and change my decision I would-- I would have gotten a black one and then just put a distinctive luggage tag/patches on it.

I like the fact that the backpack has a cheerful yellow rain cover. I bought a ripstop rain cover for my backpack ( black ) in a dark forest green. Very useful.

Try to think if you like black with yellow as opposed to blue and yellow.

AYRT - I agree with you completely and if I was planning only urban I'd go black, only hiking blue, but I keep waffling since I plan on doing both with this pack! Ugh. Ultimately I know it doesn't really matter, I'm just indecisive lol

Then I’d probably go with the blue. All the advantages with a trail pack, and any marks and scuffs are souvenirs of your adventures! If you can’t stand the idea of the marks, then go for the black.
