(Anonymous) 2024-07-10 12:32 pm (UTC)(link)Gonna be honest with you, I don't understand people who post their views on a public discussion forum and then get all weird about the fact that people react to those views, including by clarifying their own.
If someone says, "I think X" and someone else responds to that with, "hmm. I disagree, because I think X is like Y," it's not "chasing people down in order to be right" for the initial person to say, "ah, I don't think X is like Y, and actually have a different view of Y." That's how discussions work! Posters go back and forth on a topic, expanding on and clarifying their positions!

(Anonymous) 2024-07-10 01:23 pm (UTC)(link)I'm trying to figure what I wrote that is getting people needing to piggyback off my comment and continually going, "Oh but you don't get it."
Is that I'm not whole heartedly agreeing that people who are desperately begging for comments are wrong to want and to voice their desires?
What more do you want from my "Yes, I find it annoying too"?
Based off the Secret (comment by Secret OP and the screengrab in the secret), it seems like OP finds any sort of ask for comments by a writer distasteful.
And I said, I can find it diatasteful/annoying, but I get where the insecurity comes from.
And then another Anon replies to my comment, "Well it's not just when someone is wanting validation, it's this very specific way certain writers demand for comments that is wrong."
And like...OK. Neither I nor the Secret were specifying the approaches to asking for comments so why did the Anon feel this need to make that reply to my comment? I noticed similarly worded comments in other subthreads in the comments to this secret.
Like, I didn't appreciate the Anon who replied to me insinuating that I didn't get why they don't like people begging for comments.
I get it, but I can't wholeheartedly get on board with shitting on insecure writers because I have been and will likely continue to be an insecure writer myself. Can't hate too hard because I'm well aware I need validation too.
But I won't try to get it by pitting myself against other people to try to act like I'm somehow better than them by painting them in irredeemable ways.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-10 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)It's quite likely that they replied to you because you're on a discussion forum and they wanted to discuss the matter with you, as they seem to have identified points of both agreement and disagreement in your comment.
People are here to talk to each other, not just to shout their opinions into the void.
