Tips for stopping a cough

Anyone have good tips for stopping a cough so I can sleep? Cough drops and over the counter cough meds haven't worked. Sitting up helps a little, but still can't stop. Sat in the shower for a while, that helped for a while, but back to coughing again.

I have a prescription for something stronger, but won't get it until tomorrow.

I use senega & ammonia cough medicine (gold cross) when I have a chest infection. It stops it for a good while before I need to take another dose. I also use cold n flu meds. Not sure if you have the former in America but it's worth looking into.

Not sure. I have a prescription for codein cough medicine, but can't get it until tomorrow morning.

Do you have a humidifier? I got one recently specifically for when I got a cold with a bad cough. It helped most days IIRC

depends on if it's a wet or dry cough. I take some herb tea for wet cough. It includes chamomile among other less known herbs.

Prescription cough medicine has never worked for me and I have chronic lung issues. I use steam, a humidifier, and Vicks Vapo-rub to help my coughs. I also use a wedge pillow because lying flat makes the cough worse.
Also, Celestial Seasonings Vitamin C Shine helps soothe my throat. Good luck!
