Does their video on the Killdozer guy glorify him or rightfully explain he was an idiotic loon?

OP here

I ended up having to listen to the ending of the video to reply to this, but Aiden said it was about showing members of a government that he believed was corrupt that they were not invulnerable to the consequences of their actions and that he (Killdozer) was a victim of a series of misunderstandings.

Oh go watch it yourself for heaven's sake.

I've never heard of them but you are making me want to go and check it out!

OP

Please do! I've been listening to them during my work hour and they have several episodic podcasts (like Dyatlov Pass) that examine the events and look at the possibilities. They also cover missing people if that's your thing.

Dyatlov Pass my beloved

My problem with Buzzfeed Unsolved was always that the one guy was ridiculously, idiotically credulous.

That's my problem with most true crime/spooky shit channels/series/podcasts I've run across. 'I can't think of a better explanation for this situation than the ridiculous tinfoil hat/paranormal explanation that someone suggested. Certainly not the reasonable explanations I mentioned, and didn't bother to explain why they couldn't explain it.'

nayrt - This annoys me so much. I do kind of understand why they might want to aim for a skeptic/believer dynamic to cover the most ground, but I rarely encounter any such show where the skeptic is actually hardcore. More often it's: "I'm totally skeptical when it comes to paranormal stuff" and then one mystery noise in the dark or a static/crackly EVP and OMG IT'S REAAAAAAAAAL YOU GUYS!!!!

(Anonymous) 2024-07-25 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
I do think they're a bit TOO ready to believe the "spooky"/"cool" explanation over the "boring" realistic explanations, but credit where credit is due, Aiden is open to changing his mind when presented with new evidence. It was a pleasant surprise to see him go from all in on the Missing 411 stuff to skeptical once he did more research into it.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-25 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
That's the thing - Aiden is open to changing his mind. Ryan was not. They changed my mind on the Missing 411 stuff too when they started doing their own research into the subject, and he's said they don't credit David Polides anymore bc they do their own research and don't rely on just his telling.

I'm meh on Youtubers and podcasters who are too gullible like that, but at least realizing the Missing 411 is BS is a mark in their favor.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-25 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
This sounds like something I might be interested in, thanks! But it does kind of depend on their approach re: skepticism and research. IME, it's rare that podcasters/youtubers approach these topics and go, "Hey actually you guys, the real explanation is something kinda boring, sorry" even when that's the likeliest answer. They know they get more traffic by trying to portray it as a spooky mystery that we can't possibly figure out, etc. etc.

What did Ryan and Shane announce? This is not my fandom media but I'm intrigued

(Anonymous) 2024-07-25 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
They announced a subscription service, and people felt it was too expensive and they were dicks in how they announced it.
