Not OP but I think it’s mainly little kids and old ladies who love them? That’s the impression I’ve gotten.

And I’ve seen a lot of very loud hatred for them so can totally understand why this is a secret.

The biggest fan I know personally is my dad, who's a man in his 60s. (His other favorite characters include Baby Groot and Spongebob. He just likes funky little guys who are doing their best.)

I think they're the kind of Media Thing where performatively hating them is popular, but the movies are mainstream hits and the merchandise keeps selling, so there's no shortage of people who just like them.
