I sort of feel the same way, but about bully/victim ships.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-25 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
IMO, you are embodying YKINMK. You are keeping it to yourself and that is what you should do. Every thing someone does will bother someone.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-26 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Right? This is exactly what YKINMK is supposed to be. Judging certain things within our own minds is just how humans work.

+1

(Anonymous) 2024-07-26 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah as long as they keep it in their heads, all good

(Anonymous) 2024-07-25 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
On the one hand, I do this myself with certain specific ships. On the other hand, really? That's where your line is? That is like standard fare LMAO. I can't even get mad you're judging me, because your judgement is so ridiculous in the first place.

yup, this. like it's fine to judge privately anyways. but the line being drawn here, lol.....

(Anonymous) 2024-07-26 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
LMAO right? They can judge to their heart's content, that's their right. But like...that's the line for them? They're so vanilla, it's precious.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-26 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
Fifthing this! OP is definitely judging me and it's honestly kind of cute of them.

I mean, at least OP gave some fairly ~spicy~ examples of hero/villain ships in their secret. But by the way they phrased the secret, it doesn't really sound like they only judge the more extreme hero/villain ships. And there are so many hero/villain ships out there that are basic enough I wouldn't even bat an eye at them, personally.

I mentally roll my eyes at anyone if I know they feel that way about hero/villain or student/teacher ships. But I have a list of tropes and kinks that are very much Not My Thing and like you, I keep them to myself.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-25 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Kink tomato's not about loving everything that's out there. It's just about acknowledging its right to exist and not assuming that internet rando #7's Snape/Hermione fic means they're waiting outside your local elementary school with an unmarked white van full of candy and puppies.

(Especially since most of the people writing those fics were clearly channeling their inner schoolgirl who was hot for teacher, not their inner Humbert.)

(Anonymous) 2024-07-26 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Well, at least you're polite with your judgement. (That's not sarcasm. I genuinely appreciate that you're keeping it to yourself! <3 YKINMKATO is really the best way to deal with fandom tbh)

(Anonymous) 2024-07-26 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Noted with interest. Not much.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-26 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
As long as you are keeping the judgement to yourself, that is actually Your Kink Is Not My Kink and That's OK. But, jeez, I mean, hero/villain is so common in fic (and not that rare in canon), and student/teacher fic is also pretty prevalent in any fandom with a school setting, judging people must take up a lot of time.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-26 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I hate student/teacher but it's super easy to avoid because student/teacher authors use their tags properly to get all the people who do like student/teacher. Everyone wins!

Are fics about English teachers better written?
