While I'm onboard with prosecuting people for this crime, I agree that going after Alec Baldwin felt like overreach. He was an actor and had nothing to do with setting up the weapons or props. In fact, it makes perfect sense that he just assumed everything had been taken care of and didn't check anything. One, since he's not a gun expert, he likely wouldn't know what to do and look for regarding guns and him fussing around with one would only endanger himself and everyone on set. Two, it's not his job to take care of the guns. Whatever your opinion of the man, Baldwin is an actor. His job is to act as soon as the director says, "Action!"
