Interesting to you, I'm sure. Other people might like that, and other people might find it interesting.

It depends how much they use, and what the ratio of canon words is to original words. Sometimes you just gotta hit those canon stations.

I don't LOVE cozy fantasy but it's pretty silly to say that the only interesting parts of fantasy are non-cozy. Surely you know that, taste being subjective and all. For example, lots of people appreciate rich world building in fantasy, and that's not necessarily non-cozy.

Also, I've read some Darcy Coates that probably qualifies as cozy horror, so I don't think it's a dead genre.

Depends on how well it's done.

Boring bait. It's a kid show. You expecting The Godfather? Lol.

Got an example of this, OP?

(Anonymous) 2024-07-29 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know of any specifics.

(Anonymous) 2024-07-29 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Must you yell that everything you disagree with is bait or a troll, can you not allow that someone might just have a different view to you? Can you not give it a rest, just for one night?

every anon is the same anon. it is known

Inspired by 2: What are your favorite genres and what are your favorite things about that genre?

I enjoy mysteries and thrillers and I like the suspense aspect, the problem solving, incorporating real history into the story, stuff like that. How about you?

I'm sure there's a place and time and audience for it, but I've had the entire Oz series in my possession since childhood and I can definitively say that at some point, a lack of actual conflict is both boring and childish. I understand L. Frank Baum not wanting to upset his audience of loyal 8 year olds with too much conflict; authors writing to adults and teens should know better than to coddle them like 8 year olds. Meaning, if you want a low-conflict fantasy world to dabble in, that's fine, but at some point there has to be a story, and most stories need a conflict, even if it's very lightweight. If you want zero conflict in your fantasy, go play Animal Crossing.

1. I thought you were talking about the Oz tv series so your comment was hilarious!
2. Cozy fantasy does have conflict in it. The one pictured in the secret has racism, organized crime, betrayal, and actual battles.
