Would help to know what exactly are sporkings.

Sporkings were basically Mystery Science Theater-style "reviews" of fanfic. Some of them, admittedly, were quite funny, but mostly they were as bad as the fic they were skewering and often quite mean-spirited, even the funny ones.

Basically someone would take a fic--the ones I saw were always clearly labeled with title and author's name--and go over it, sometimes using excerpts and responding to them, and sometimes going line-by-line.

I enjoyed them when I was twenty and less empathic than I am now, but from my perspective twenty years later I'm actually pretty glad we moved on from them. I agree with the nonnies pointing out that it's all hobby writing and sporkings usually punched down, not up.
