Right so I was curious and read a few pages in.

I think the biggest flaw ? Was presenting relatively interesting concepts with a dead god and trauma and then completely negating all sense of seriousness with YA level dialogue and romance.

The sheer amount of "uh...,ummm...., gahhhh... and err..." Was not something I enjoyed skimming through. Plus the fact that these 30+ year old characters lit act 10 years younger is well. Not that appealing. If it marketed itself as YA romance I would be much more forgiving of it. Otherwise I'm surprised people seem to like this series if all it is seems to be is a YA quirky heroine who totally isn't attractive + dangerous broken man who is very emo about being broken.

It's not YA. It's adult romance. It's just written with a light, conversational tone. Again, it's a style thing, you can like it or not, but it's very much not YA. The characters are clearly and unambiguously adults, not just in their age but in their maturity.

If something is written in a juvenile style, the sort of style one is used to seeing in YA, then it doesn't matter that it's an adult romance. People are still going to think it comes across as YA.

Calling a writing style juvenile just because you don’t like it is pretty juvenile.

I suspect most of those people haven't read much adult romance, then. It's written in a category romance style (Deliberately! She wrote them after going on a "historical" Harlequin bender!) which obviously isn't going to sound like adult SFF or literary stuff, and is probably aimed at a slightly lower reading level too, but that doesn't mean it's YA.
