Re: Best and Worst Fandoms

(Anonymous) 2024-08-03 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
The best fandom experiences I've had were in little subsections of larger properties: Rogue and Rogue/Gambit in super hero comics, Rogue Trader in all of Warhammer 40k, Wizards Unite in all of Harry Potter, Lotr books in the sea of Lotr movie fans, ect.

The worst fandom experiences come in three types: fandom with a younger audience (good heavens the immaturity and weirdness), large fandoms where I can't find a little tide pool and just feel lost at sea, and fandoms that attract "normies" who don't appreciate the peculiar culture of fandom. Examples include Avatar the last Airbender (good show, fandom gave me acne and yellowed my teeth), Star Wars (there's some real good fic but JESUS the drama, no where was safe), and Game of Thrones (all yall need to stop writing petitions and start writing fanfic).
