I think the characters you can’t redeem are the ones that have no illusions. No doublethink, no arguments for why they’re actually helping people by hurting people, and full awareness that they’re causing suffering for their own gain.

I would have called Endeavor from My Hero Academia irredeemable, but the author disagreed. I suppose he’s welcome to that interpretation, but I think someone like that would just blame others for his failures.
