There is nothing wrong with playing a game on "easy" mode. There is even less wrong in using "cheat" codes. Play what makes you happy, not what some tragic powergamer thinks is happy.

Only caveat is obviously cheats in multiplayer games but yeah, this.
On the other hand, it's not a moral failing of developers if their game doesn't HAVE and easy mode. Not every game has to be for everyone.

You keep those gates, gotta keep those casual gamers out of the fun stuff.

No. Nothing gatekeepy about it. Not every game has to be for everyone. Literally the only appeal of Soulslike games is the difficulty. There are tons of other games you can play. I don't play them either because I'm not a glutton for punishment and find these types of games frustrating. So I play others. Stop pretending the game industry is out to get you just because one single line of games isn't for you. We're not in the age when video games were so niche that nothing else was out there. You can play thousands of other games.

I'm DA, but I think what a lot of people don't realize is "Easy Mode" is only still easy for some people. For me, who's disabled, without Easy Mode (which is still a challenge for me due to not having good reaction times and having hands that occasionally twitch so ask me how many times I accidentally click something while moving my mouse around) I'm not playing anything.

It's not that the gaming industry is out to get me. It's that disabled people aren't always thought of. We're out of sight, out of mind. And that's frustrating!

Sure, I understand it's frustrating. I can't play any first person games without triggering blinding migraines, as well as several other games where the camera movement is a bit off to my brain so a huge amount of games are out of the question for me. But the above comment was about it being gatekeeping that some games are very hard on purpose and they are made this way to appeal to a very particular demographic of gamers and game studios are not obligated to make their game appeal to everyone.

And in general, it's just a sad but true fact that disabled people are not the biggest group of gamers and game companies want to make money so including expensive to develope accessibilty features for every possible disabilty just isn't feasible in a lot of cases. Would I like a third person option in first person games so I can play them? Sure! But I won't get them because there's not enough demand for it.

Sure, I guess? But OP wasn't even hinting at this, so I'm not sure why you brought it up.

Mainly because that discussion usually goes in this direction anyway sooner or later anyways.

I'll go one farther and say I don't see anything wrong with getting through obstacles on someone else's account, if they ask you to help them through a part they just suffer with, no matter how many gaming companies threaten people with account suspension for that.
