Of all current fandoms, I did not expect the Dungeon Meshi fandom to be such a cesspool of unapologetically vile ableist assholes. Just say you don't like the ship because it has the same character as your bland OTP, for fuck's sake. No need to justify it by saying the most insultingly ableist crap while thinking it makes you somehow morally superior. Hint: It doesn't. It just makes you an ableist POS.

No. I ship Kabru and Mithrun and the ableist bullshit Laios/Kabru shippers spout to put their perceived "rival ship" down is pretty disgusting.

The weird thing is that it isn't even that huge, not anywhere near the Labru numbers at least as far as I've seen. I think maybe some of the Labru shippers feel kinda threatened by Mithrun and Kabru kinda ending up in a sort of platonic partnership in the end that can easily be a springboard for shipping them so they try to invalidate it by being ableist about it? Idk.

Where are you fandom wise? Twitter? Tiktok? I'm on tumblr where DM has been super popular for a while now and I've seen nothing of that sort at all... but tbf I'm only on my own dash where people ship both ships or just leave each other be.
(I ship both, so I also don't see how Labru is in any way shape or form more bland than any other (popular) ship in that series.)

I've seen it on twitter mostly.
I mostly dislike Labru because a lot of people fall into some very tired, samey tropes with it but that's the curse of being a popular ship. I have less of an issue with the ship itself than with the shippers who pretend their ship is somehow superior.
