I mean yeah. If we're all agreed that fanfic is a hobby just for fun, then that's also accepting that an overwhelming majority of the fanfic produced is not going to be good. It comes with the territory and setting your expectations otherwise is silly.

On the other hand it's super funny when the same people agree that like 99% of fanfic is bad or boring then wonder why their fanfic isn't getting kudos and comments. I have some bad news for them...

It's infuriating, especially on tiktok where it is the default to be an anti. I make rec lists (with warnings) and get some whining about me being a proshipper because I've recced adult/teenage, student/teacher, and pairings with incest. All the usual "you're a pdf" or "want to fuck your siblings?!?". Which is funny because I'm ace as hell.

Yup. It's one of the main reasons that I'm pretty happy with whatever attention my fanfic does get because I'm not sat here thinking I'm amazing at writing, I know I write well enough for people to enjoy but that doesn't suddenly make me a god at writing. It's just a fun hobby.
