I'm surprised there's less outrage about Rose being 17, but maybe the movie is too old for people to have noticed?

I remember having an issue with her spending decades with her husband and the father of her children but swanning off into the afterlife with a fling of several days, but that's because 12 year old me was a hater when it came to romance in films.

(Ngl I'm still a bit "really Rose?!" but then again I don't believe in any kind of afterlife so it realistically doesn't actually bother me if that's how you want to interpret the ending.)

But yes, I never thought she did anything wrong. She was in an abusive situation (from her mother AND her intended spouse) and took the opportunity to be free. Good for her. Not her fault everything else happened and Jack sadly died.

People suck. And unfortunately they keep intruding on bears and acting stupid in bear country and getting poor bears killed :(

And SBA's default response is always "they weren't carrying a firearm/the right sort of firearm" despite it being proven that a gun is one of the least effective ways to stop a bear attack.

It's infuriating, especially on tiktok where it is the default to be an anti. I make rec lists (with warnings) and get some whining about me being a proshipper because I've recced adult/teenage, student/teacher, and pairings with incest. All the usual "you're a pdf" or "want to fuck your siblings?!?". Which is funny because I'm ace as hell.
