Yeah, he was abusive - which was why she thought it'd be a great idea to fuck with him by having another man draw her naked and then tacking a "HAHA LOOK WHAT I'VE BEEN DOING" note onto the drawing.

Because that's the thing, right? She wasn't really sneaking around behind Cal's back; she was rubbing his fuckin' nose in it. Sure, she was into Jack, but she was also using him to lash out at her fiance, and the fact that she was doing that led directly to him being framed for a crime and arrested.

Yeah, she was 17, and young, and dumb, and trapped by certain social conditions. But that doesn't mean she gets a pass on being a jerk.

DA, but seriously, how? They've said multiple times that their issue is that Rose deliberately provoked the evil, abusive fiance in a way that aimed said abusive fiance at a third party, who died because of it. In what way does that say "poor evil fiance" to you, instead of "Spiting the rich, abusive asshole is understandable, but doing so in a way that aimed him at someone with even less social standing than you was a Bad Decision?"

I mean, none of them are real people, so in the long run it doesn't matter. But Rose's girl power moment, which was obviously written by a man, directly resulted in Jack dying unrealistically slowly of hypothermia. It was a dumb decision. The smart decision would have been to just take the damn necklace and mail the drawing to fucknuts from a hotel in NYC once they weren't all trapped on a boat.

Nah, fuck Cal. All he cared about was social status and didn't see Rose as a person. Humiliating him one time is nothing compared to the abuse he'd already inflicted, not to mention the years he would have ruined had she stayed with him. He got off light.

And I beg to differ. That wasn't stupid. It was goddamn genius and hilarious.

First, we're in a thread in which people have said that she had to sneak around behind Cal's back because he was an abuser. Part of the point of bringing up the drawing is to say that no, that doesn't make sense, because she didn't sneak around; she was actually quite brazen about it.

Second, you're focusing on the completely wrong thing. This isn't about whether assholes should be humiliated or not. It's whether this specific action, given its potential and actual consequences, was stupid. That "genius and hilarious" stunt involved putting another guy in the middle, and getting that guy arrested. That ain't great!
