Re: I don't like meat

I grew up in an environment where people get weirdly angry and defensive about meat eating, because even though I always liked eating meat, vegetarian diets always made sense to me? So I was always careful about expressing being OK with vegetarians (like, IDEFK how I survived in such a stupidly entitled and quick to rage over fucking nothing environment).

Hitting my late 30s I've been drawn to more meat-free dishes due to taste changes and trying to rely less on meat to help (even if just a little) lessen my carbon footprint.
It's not that hard to do, especially with how easy it is to find creative recipes online (for me lately it's mostly random YT shorts recc'd to me).

I don't miss or crave meat as much as I used to. I used to feel like I had to have every meal every day with meat as my protein.
But these days I can go a few days meat-free and not crave it for a while.

Also, I've had periods of some meats not hitting right on my palette.
Pork and its porky flavor (a friend describes it as a "dirty taste") can make me nauseous sometimes
Chicken can feel like rubber in my mouth sometimes.
There was a period where seafood tasted rank no matter how it wad prepared, and I love seafood.
I can sometimes not have a care for beef (I actually like ground turkey more than ground beef; sometimes crumbled tofu is better too!). But when the steak cravings happen, NGL I like to pretend I'm a vampire in need of blood.
