I have liked plenty of the films over the years so am not going to pretend I'm above it, but for me it's not so much fatigue as being frustrated when a my local cinema has basically every screen dedicated to whichever new superhero film but the one smaller release I want to see is only on twice a day for two days and I'm at work.

(I am a fan of more than one genre and I do appreciate that one of those big genres I like is strangling the schedule sometimes and I can see why it annoys other people. Though having said that I think "get it on streaming quickly at all costs" has contributed to the erosion of a varied schedule too.)

+1

Me and my gf had to get to the cinema for 10am for the one showing of Godzilla Minus One that week, and it barely ran for 2 weeks, everything else was Aquaman and Wonka. Like, ffs I enjoy superhero flicks but I'd like to have options for other things too.

It doesn't matter the genre, the big screens and screen times, will always be for the big budget action blockbusters. Your smaller side genre films will never run for as long or be shown that often.

Yep. I live in a major city where the smaller side genre films actually DO get a lot of billing and even then, they still won't compare to the big stuff.

My parents get do frustrated about this. They used to like going to the movies but their theater has only 3 or 4 screens and a lot of the time they only get the blockbusters that don't interest them. Ten years ago there would usually be at least one movie that interested them every time the offerings changed, but not anymore
