I normally don't ship het but I like a few het ships, it can be awkward to be the only het shipper in a corner of fandom (or the only slash shipper). I don't think it's wrong to ship characters outside of their canonical/implied orientation either. It's just a "what if" story, it can change anything from canon. People can ignore fan ships they dislike as well. Some characters I can only see as lesbians for example and I just avoid het fic and art. Pewey has a lot of potential for fun character dynamics.

That said, idk if there's anything else going on that is leading to misunderstandings of being homophobic? There are definitely situations where people who dislike a ship throw accusations like that around, but I don't know if maybe something you do comes across different than how you intend. Such as comments that come across as bashing femslash shippers or something. But I don't see anything bad about your ships on the surface at all.
