On one hand I strongly believe that people can ship what they want. On the other "exclusive het shipper" sounds like I would run for the hills from this person. Going into show full of lesbians just to invent male OCs to ship sounds icky

Sounds more like they invented female OCs to ship with male human characters, considering all gems are female. I think.

Ah. You are right, I think I am having a bad faith reading because of "exclusive het" thing.
Sorry OP, that's on me

I wasn't sure if they meant "the only ships that have caught me in this canon are all het" or "I only look for het ships ever" - the first would be whatever but the second is giving big homophobic religious vibes.

No it doesn't. It just means they're only into het ships. Which is an entirely okay thing. You are not obligated to like slash ships. Just like you are not obligated to like stuff like trans headcanons and how exclusive slash shippers are not obligated to have het ships.

Are you secret OP?

You think secret OP is the only person who could feel that way?

No, quite the opposite. I'm a slash shipper who hates SU. I just think it's really shitty to try to deny someone the right to their shipping preference because you personally don't like it, no matter if it's het or slash.

Yeah, exactly. If someone have a preference it's neutral. If someone actively goes "ewww why would I ship slash/fem" it's getting sus

The one that got me was the part where they're sad how people don't support their ship just because they "think Pearl's a lesbian." As if it's a fanon thing, and not a defining part of her character.

Like, ship what you want and screw the haters, but canonically Pearl is exclusively attracted to women and reacts to Dewey's flirting with anything between obliviousness and open contempt. Again, fandom is for playing with the what-ifs and making your favorite dolls kiss, so hunt down the content you like and have fun making your own if you roll that way.

I was thinking the same. I don't think not shipping slash or femslash ships means someone is homophobic and they shouldn't be called that if they are not doing anything else that could be taken as homophobic. But that statement about people "thinking" Pearl was a lesbian did take me aback. People do not "think" she is, she's canonically is.
