The worst case of this I’ve seen is someone saying “squick” is immature and you should say “trigger.” Those are two very different things!

I was about to bring that one up too! Goes to show there’s no such thing as a universally non-cringe fandom term.

Personally I like Blorbo. I like that it’s an unsexy word, so it’s more likely to be understood as a broad term of nerdy fascination, and not be narrowed down to "character I'd like to fuck".

Oh wow, that's dumb. Like you said, they're two different things. It's as though you can't be considered mature unless you pretend that something that merely grosses you out or makes you uncomfortable is an emotionally traumatic event.

I hate that "trigger" has become yet another watered down word that nobody can take seriously now.
