Re: Secrets you don't want to make...

Oof, I've heard about it and that's why I've been putting off reading it so far... I loved the first book, liked the others (though I didn't warm up to the other protags as much) and I also felt, from hearsay, that thing was kinda out of the blue. She got some criticism on her tumbl for it and for what it's worth, she replied that the relationship isn't necessarily meant to be all-out romantic though. Again, haven't read it yet so I have no opinion on the matter but eh.

I started reading it like "Aaaaw, yes. Brotherly bondi-wait what???"
I have zero idea where it came from. For both characters there were several options that made more sense if there needed to be a romance? I used to re-read the books every one-two years or so, so I remember them better than others and it was REALLY out of the left field.

I think I even unfollowed her on tumblr in my effort to go LALALALALA and... yeah no. That shit was very romantic and it was very odd.

I generally shipped both characters with different options so I wouldn't have been hugely enthused if it had actually made sense but it not really making sense kinda adds insult to injury....

I mean. Same. I ship them with other characters and wouldn't have been exactly HAPPY with any other ships, but would have probably accepted it, because hey. Happens sometimes while shipping. I'd still read for other characters/ships I also love and just roll with it.

This just felt insulting.
It's not even one of those cases where the fandom somehow made a juggernaut ship up out of nowhere and the author got inspired. I feel like most people would have been happy with no official explicit romance for all the characters.
I feel mostly confident in saying that NO ONE asked for this.
