I love that media - especially books - are more diverse now. I read basically only diverse books these days... but I'm not actively seeking out stories about characters who are "like" me.
I'm glad these books exist now. I want them to. I hope other people love them and feel seen.
I just don't want to read about "me" in any way shape or form.
(I have no problem with myself anymore. I'm over 30 and okay with myself. I just. Have no interest.)

I’m just glad that the characters who are “like me” get to have romcoms and silly stories instead of just dealing with serious subjects all the time or just existing to teach the (primarily white) main characters a very special lesson. Books like that were so rare when I was younger.

Same. I prefer catching glimpse of common ground in characters who are not like me.
And also watching someone similar to me having some exciting space adventures for example does not inspire me. I feel lacking and depressed instead
