(Anonymous) 2024-08-18 01:33 am (UTC)(link)That's not what the secret is about, it's about Bucky taking over the Captain America mantle from Steve. While I'm sure there are shippers talking about it one way or the other, the idea of Bucky being Captain America is in the comics.
As to the Bucky/Steve pairing being popular, CA: Winter Soldier was a really good movie, people think both Sebastian Stan and Chris Evans are attractive, it has both friends-to-lovers and enemies-to-lovers tropes, and all sorts of potential for angst and fluff.
