I think it's less the shipping itself, and more how they ship it. IE, attacking people over rival ships, etc.

I would agree with that.

For this anon, however, shipping preferences themselves revealed good or bad traits, despite also somehow being neutral.

Having good or bad traits doesn't make a thing good or bad overall. Like I can have a few bad traits, doesn't make me a bad person.
