It's amazing when the fannish age cohort that gave us "woobie" acts like "blorbo" is a crime against maturity.

Nah, I hated woobie too. For that matter, I also find the word squick to be pretty unpleasant, mostly because I automatically associate it with sharp, squelchy sounds that are physically painful to hear, but at least I've had over 25 years to get used to it. Also, at least it's fitting, because being squicked out is an unpleasant sensation as well. Woobie on the other hand really only ever seemed like a fitting descriptor for a small child or pet, at least to me. However, I'll credit both woobie and squick for not sounding like something that's dangling out of a one-year-old's nose.
