And least you’re not me, who was so shocked when my teacher mentioned in a tangent that gay marriage should be legal and homophobia was bad that I wrote in my diary after school that day that I agreed with her but she shouldn’t be sharing her political opinions in class because it wasn’t her job and her supporting the gays might make some of my classmates uncomfortable!

Hahah hi, I didn't do that but in the late 90s (before I knew I was gay) absolutely made the "ugh homophobes/ chistians say homosexuality is a CHOICE but why would _anyone_ choose to live a second-class, lonely life..." argument. I really thought I was sticking it to the man!
It's wild how much has changed even throughout my lifetime
