I hesitate to ask, but what does it mean to be asexual, aromantic and pan?

(Anonymous) 2024-08-23 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not the OP, but I take it as very rarely feeling any sexual or romantic attraction but capable of it on rare occasions, on which it could be toward any gender.

OP said "aromantic spectrum" so I assume they mean grey or demi or something not like fully incapable of romance

Open to all genders for a relationship but not generally looking for/interested in a sexual or romantic relationship.

Open to all genders for a relationship that is neither sexual nor romantic?

(Anonymous) 2024-08-24 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. Platonic life partners are a thing.

(Anonymous) 2024-08-24 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
The Doctor has platonic temporary partners all the time.

I feel bad that this was posted so soon after that troll secret about nonbinary readings the other day. Yours is legit, OP, but prepare to get mocked by some of the very same people who called out that other secret, because you used "they" when the Doctor has canonically only gone by "he" and "she."

(Anonymous) 2024-08-23 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I have no beef with the use of "they" here-- I figure the secret writer is referring to the collective group of regenerations (who admittedly are almost all "he", but still).

(Anonymous) 2024-08-25 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
During the phase of my life when I identified as cisgender (before I knew the word cisgender, and possibly before the word had been coined, but I'm sufficiently agender that at the time my anatomy was the deciding vote on my identified gender) and had an active multiple personality situation going on, the committee decided that they were not going to ratify any set of gendered pronouns for the committee, because they couldn't rule out the possibility of future members/regenerations (we were already on our second entirely different committee) who were other genders. So I deeply understand the choice of "they" for the Doctor's group of regenerations, as well as the ineffable personal identity of the Doctor. (Which, contrary to the former beliefs of some airline booking systems and gym door keycard management systems, is a gender neutral title in English!)

My god. I hope you get some drugs that fix that shit.

Yeah, I grew up only knowing The Doctor played by men so I used he, but these days I tend to use "they" when talking about The Doctor as an overall character rather than individual incarnations because if nothing else when I'm typing a whole load of meta I think it looks better than typing out "he or she" several times but also for all I know some of those individual incarnations may well be nb or just not fussed which pronouns you use. I personally hc that some incarnations will have a stronger sense of a specific identity than others but ymmv.

As for the secret I've kinda always gone with The Doctor is an alien and won't necessarily adhere to human behaviour on a lot of things so I think it's fine to think whatever you like in terms of shipping or not shipping.

I think that whatever the Time Lords have going on is so far beyond whatever humans think of as gender and sexuality that it's like,,, eldritch wholesome to even try to consider it. The Doctor (and the Master, for that matter) enjoys playing with human perceptions of whatever they've got going on, but it's very much "weirdo beyond our perception is humoring us" whenever they do.
