Haha, same. Ardal O'Hanlon is such a lovable bunny, I wish he would've had a longer stint in Death in Paradise because he was my favorite detective in that series.

Oh I second that on Death in Paradise. He was such a fun character in that series. I think him leaving was when I started to fall out of love with the series when Ralf Little replaced him (even though I think Ralf Little is a good actor, it did feel like the writers didn't really know what to do with him to the point where I started to fall behind on the series).

He's okay, but I honestly preferred the detectives who were more enthusiastic (or at least not actively sneering/allergic to) about the local culture, food, music, etc. The new guy is at least learning to fit in a little, but they've done the fish out of water thing before and I don't find it that amusing. The idea of a guy who just wants to eat chicken and chips for every meal is kind of sad.

I especially liked his relationship with Florence the young detective Sergeant. He came off as such a respectful mentor to her. (They reminded me of the two detectives in The Thursday Murder Club and until I see the movie I will continue to imagine them in the roles.)

Yeah, if they wanted to make the character annoying they absolutely cast the wrong guy. Ardal O'Hanlon is adorable in all contexts.

Especially compared to Ted and Jack, Dougal is lovely.
Mrs Doyle falls into that category for me as well, I don't find her as lovable as Dougal, but the character is supposed to be there to drive Ted nuts, but she's just trying to take care of everything and get everyone a cup of tea.
