yeah..... after a point even in TNG i felt like the writers room went off the deep end and cared more about churning to get their bucks than about the (foundation of) optimistic vibes of the show. DS9 turning into the drama of the Dominion War was basically like a death knell for the series as a whole imo

Looking back: when you were a teen, would you rather have had a beat up old car you could could cruise around in with your friends and not worry about putting a few more dings and dents in it if you misjudged a corner or parked in an unwise place; or would you rather have had that cool sporty new car which everyone envies in the parking lot?

When I was a teen, I so wanted that BMW 3 convertible. Looking back though, I think I had better fun in the old Jetta. Even if I did smack it into a couple of walls.

I stopped watching after season 2, but I have friends who kept up and... I am so, so sorry. There's bad, and then there's whatever the hell was going on there.

I read in the DS9 Companion that the show got feedback after season 1/2 that people weren't really enthused about the Bajor plotlines, so that's why they backed off Bajor-related stuff and pivoted to other plotlines.

Personally, I don't really mind. I wasn't super into the war plotline, but I liked the Changelings, and the Dominion as a power strong enough to give the Federation a run for its money, and the various mindgames they played, and the odd alliances that ended up coming out of it. I just wish there was less religious good-versus-evil bullshit at the end.

Ron D Moore has issues with regards idolizing the military. That's all I'll say.

He turned DS9 into his audition for rebooting/ruining Battlestar Galactica, in much the same way that JJ Abrams used Star Trek as an audition to ruin/reboot Star Wars.

... but you wouldn't mind if someone else made them for you! As always, including the fandom and full character names is a big help, and while I'm definitely not the world's greatest expert at secret design, I'll try my best. Please note that secrets with lots of text are sometimes difficult to accommodate and I'll give it a shot but might not be able to make secrets where the text is so lengthy that I can't fit it into the limited space.

I'll monitor this thread until tomorrow's secret post goes up, so feel free to leave your comments until then!

P.S. Please don't worry if you've submitted a secret and it hasn't been posted yet. I usually post these threads before running out of the previous batch of secrets to get a head start on the next batch.

Well, I didn't have a car at all, or friends for that matter, so I guess the beat up old car? I do think it's best to get used to driving any car before you start thinking about shiny toys.

Sometimes I enjoying getting into a fandom via the fanfic and not the actual canon. It can be a lot more fun.

I just dumped the Dungeons and Dragons group I've been DMing for for over a decade now. I am so sick of people using the Rogue as a reason just to be a fucking disruptive asshole. If the rest of the group want that, then one of them can DM it. I'm done.

I haven't watched it myself but I just watched Amanda the Jedi's breakdown of s4 and yikes.... The writers certainly made some choices when it came to the characters.

It makes me glad I decided to quit with season 2.

Meh. I loved both storylines. The one thing I was a bit meh on was the season four focus on Klingons.
