If someone has written 500 books and the back cover of every one is just a picture of the author, I think that’s tacky and I’m unlikely to read anything they write. “You don’t need to know anything about this book, just that *I* wrote it!”

(I don’t know how these things work so I know this might be the publisher’s decision rather than the author’s, but either way it annoys me more than it should.)

Is this a thing? I’ve only seen it on some hardcovers or library editions and the summary is always on the dust jacket flaps.
