I get why female internet educators/lecturers/youtubers feel the need to be sexy in their videos. They're doing this as a job, they're getting attention in any way possible, get your bag girl, whatev.

I'm still far less likely to subscribe to someone that does this though if the topic at hand is something totally unrelated to beauty/fashion. It's about the authenticity; if I'm seeking gardening advice or animal handling tips, I trust the info from the auntie in galoshes and an dirty apron over the sexy model with perfect makeup and hair and the ring light in her studio.

Is this sexist? IDK. I'd feel the same about male youtubers, but I have yet to see a guy dress up in a three piece suit with perfectly coiffed hair to tell me how to fix a leak in my toilet. Or shirtlessly tell me what to do with chicken poop while making sure his abs are always in frame.

Maybe there's an audience for that too, but it isn't me either.

I know what you mean. Difficult line to toe there. It can be really difficult if you have internalized some misogyny because of bullshit you grew up with.

For the record, I probably wouldn't subscribe either. IMO one should always wear appropriate attire for the task, and I couldn't take seriously someone who doesn't. But who knows, maybe that is the one way their audience can absorb useful info.

Ok but now I want to see a guy in a three piece suit leaning on a lambo explaining to me how to clean out gutters, which I'm sure is something he personally does all the time

DA

This would make Tai Lopez far less insufferable. (Better him than Andrew Tate, let's be real.)

There are things squirming under rocks that are better than Andrew Tate.
