Come to remember this, the only thing I could find in my childhood that had this was a series of kids' chapter books about a large family called the Murphys who went to a Catholic school because... they just did. Presumably they were Catholic but the books never really went into that, they were the exact same kind of growing-up slice of life stories you could find in hundreds of other books. They were fine, but the main reason I read all of them was to see characters who went to a school like mine
