I never understood this sentiment because those RPGs' "teenagers" are already people with adult problems who are just labeled as teenagers to appeal to the target demographic. Like, where are these "teenager problems"? Teenagers don't own farms, manage their own bank accounts, and save their villages from going under.

...what? Have you played a farm rpg lately?

Those aren't the issues the teenager NPCs in the actual games are dealing with. Tons of the "romance options" in farm RPGs are literally teenagers that just graduated school and still live with their parents or are part timing at their parents' stores. The parents themselves, the adults with the meaningful issues, don't really get development or backstories.
