I will never think it's a bad thing when any kind of entertainment, especially Star Trek, tackles fascism. And that's what the Dominion was: former victims turned bigoted fascists. DS9 also managed to show how quickly defeated fascists could rise from the ashes like the Cardassians after they joined forces with the Dominion.

To top it all off, Deep Space Nine told its story well—so well that even its fervent haters can't deny that during its run, DS9's quality rarely dipped below average and was consistently some of the greatest television ever made.
