I think the greatest American actor is Pacino but he hasn't been doing serious work for a long time.

I think breaking it down into decades would be easier to answer.

Like "greatest actors of the 90s" for example and you can go by who was peaking during that particular time.

But the 90s weren't part of the "entertainment age" I experienced because I was like 5 years old.
