What was the last thing you watched?

I'm currently watching a youtube video about self-shipping.
But the last tv show I watched was Doctor Who (with Colin Baker called The Two Doctors).

I just saw one of the spammy “people losing their minds over this show with perfect rotten tomatoes score” posts from Ladbible or Unibible about this like an hour ago! I usually ignore those unless I have time to laugh at everyone making snarky comments about it but this time I checked it out because it had so many positive reacts. The show looks amazing and we just added it to our watchlist!

Fucking loved that series, and was particularly impressed by the exploration of what makes a good leader. I gotta get around to reading the book.

On a tangential note, I have no clue why the summary describes it as an anthology series. It's a single story, not an anthology.

That was a good one. Jared Harris was great in it, he's such an understated actor!

Deadpool & Wolverine. I’d already seen it twice but went a third time last night to see it 3D. I don’t watch a lot of stuff so had no idea Real3D and IMAX 3D are totally different. I went locally to the regular cinema and the Real3D was terrible :(

On YouTube, EarlyBird's video on Galerians. (Smallish YTer who covers mostly old PS games. Her and Dungeon Chill, who has similar content, though with a Dreamcast focus, are great. They've both done Galerians and Koudelka.)

TV, I'm early into the latest season of Futurama. (... Or maybe I watched an episode of Ducktales after that. Something on D+, anyway.)

Youtube video where a historian was reacting to a What Culture video listing the most historically accurate films.

Last tv show was also Doctor Who, series 4.

Dirty Pop.

Wow, what an unexpected ride that was! I think the things that gets me the most about it is that Pearlman had clearly dialed into a particular zeitgeist, and was gifted at marketing -- but he just couldn't stop himself from fucking scamming the shit out of people at every turn.

I do actually wish, however, that the series was longer, and had gone into greater depth about the nature of his scams, how they were uncovered, and why the ungodly sums of money earned off the backs of his bands couldn't cover his debts. I finished it feeling as if there were still some gaps that needed to be filled. They gestured at his bad deal with BMG, but I'd have liked them to go more into the specifics.

I'm watching a kdrama called Castaway Diva.

The last thing I finished was That 90s Show

I'm breaking my own rule about no harem dramas and watching the cdrama "Empresses in the Palace". It's such a famous cdrama that I got curious, so when I finished "Dashing Youth" and nothing else sounded interesting, I thought I'd give it a try. So far I'm seven episodes in and can see why people like it, it's about a young woman who is (against her will) selected to be the emperor's concubine and she's not very well favored at this point in the series, but apparently that's going to change. Probably going to be a lot of politics and harem drama, so I hope it won't be too dull or too much irritating catfights.

Movie: Deadpool and Wolverine - really enjoyed it despite never seeing a Deadpool before or having seen Logan which I feel was heavily referenced as well.

TV: Sanctuary - watching it with my bestie who loves this show and I'm super enjoying it. It's silly and kind of pointless but it's good fun and the characters are pleasant for me to care about.

I think I might be losing my mind...

(Anonymous) 2024-08-29 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
So, earlier I was supposed to meet up with my dad for him to help me with my car. We didn't have a set time, my mom said he didn't really have any plans, so I should just call whenever and I could go over then since my parents live close by and it wouldn't take long.

I had an appointment super early this morning and since my dad wasn't in any hurry and I haven't gotten much sleep lately, I decided to sleep for a couple hours when I got home from my appointment, and then call him when I woke up.

Anyway, I went to sleep and woke up at some point, checked my phone, and saw a text from my mom saying there's some new virus out there and I should be careful (not at all out of character for her, she worries a lot), and then another one a few minutes later saying my dad decided to go to the gym (something he does frequently, and sometimes decides spur of the moment, so not unreasonable) and he could help me later in the afternoon. I thought "ok, that's fine with me, I can get some more sleep" and went back to bed.

Then when I woke up again, it had been a couple hours and I decided to text her to see if he was back yet and if now would be a good time. I grabbed my phone, opened the app and...nothing. The last text from her was from early this morning after I left my appointment, about something completely unrelated.

Apparently I had dreamed those texts?! I ended up calling her and she confirmed my dad had been home all day and was just hanging around the house and was available whenever was good for me.

Thinking about it, I had been reading an article on my phone about a new virus before I went to sleep, so maybe that's where that came from and her worrying and him going to the gym are common occurrences so there's no reason they wouldn't be in my subconscious.

It's just so weird. I've dreamed about getting texts from people before, but as soon as I wake up, I realize it was just a dream. But this time I didn't...it wasn't until I went to respond to the text that I realized it didn't really happen, and it kind of scares me and makes me wonder if there's something wrong with my brain or something.

I don't know, has anyone else had something similar happen to them?

When I worked for a software company I started dreaming in regular expressions for a while, but I'm not sure that's quite the same.

I have this happen all the time. Many of my dreams are really mundane real life things, and they tend to slot easily into "memory" instead of "dream." It's not until something comes up that makes me really think about it that I go "huh" and realize nope, that was all a dream.

Yes, not for a while, but I've had that happen. Imagined a whole conversation that never took place.

Oh, yeah. Like most of the time there's some aspect of my dream weird enough for me to realize that it wasn't real, but occasionally I have a really boring dream that's just about some everyday detail like going grocery shopping. Then I wake up and later I get confused because hey, didn't I buy cottage cheese this week? Where is it? It's really dumb, but it happens.

I just needed to share, if you're in the Northeast United States, HYDE is performing in a few months at Brooklyn Steel (NYC). Just had to share this because I don't think anyone in my RL circles knows who or wtf I'm talking about when I mention this.
