To be fair, at least you are not like a friend of mine who knows that I like hearing her opinion and thoughts on writing because I value her insights, but the most I get is a comment and when I have to go out my way to bring it up in DMs the only reaction I get is "yeah it was cute".

I'd rather not have friends read my works if that's the case because it's just ruining the mood. We can brainrot over ideas and headcanons without getting involved in each other's work or not reading everything.

Super late comment but this comment ignited some old feelings and memories.

I had a fandom friend who did similar things.

Their interactions with my fics became less and less frequent, especially after they began writing their own fics.
They'd share links to fics they read and liked and kept asking me for my opinion on said fics, and they seemed to want me to go off about all the things I liked about the fics my friend wrote.

When I tried to tell them that I felt unsupported by their behavior, they apologized that I "felt that way", and then came up with excuses as to why they'd been short and dismissive, including the ways I didn't respond well to a gripe they had outside of me saying "that sucks".
I realized my friend didn't want a friend, they wanted a suck up to parrot praises at them so I stopped interacting with this friend.
