Ooof. That 16 hour shift sound brutal. What do you do for a living, if you don't mind me asking.

I'm what's called a Direct Support Professional. I work with individuals with developmental disabilities. They have their own homes (Independent Supported Living), and we staff are there to help them with physical stuff they need help doing (shopping, showering) and more ephemeral stuff, like sleeping all night in their own bed, using proper manners, etc.

Do you work with one person or a group of people? Are the homes all in one location?

There are 3 ISL's in my county. I mostly work at the one with 3 ladies living in it. The other two are single individuals (ladies), and other staff work there mostly; they're more independent. 'My' house has staff 24/7, usually 2 staff.

In the neighboring county, my company has about 10 houses, and run two day service programs, one in each county. We also have a Sheltered Workshop, where some of the ladies work (we have men, also; my county just happens to have only ladies). They range in age from 27 - 55.
