Yeah. At this point, I think it'd be near impossible to have Batman without the Joker. Kind of like how you can't have a Sherlock Holmes adaptation without Moriarty.

There are dozens and dozens of highly acclaimed Batman comic arcs that don’t have the Joker. It is far from impossible. Bane, the al Ghuls, Riddler, Scarecrow, the Penguin, Two Face, Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, David Cain are all villains they could use instead.
